Thursday Thumb-Twiddler
1. If the President called up and said that he'd do his darnedest to implement any one policy or program you chose, what would you choose? This is a tough one. There are a lot of really good things that need to be done and choosing just one is hard. I guess I'd go with a policy that reduced the amount of money given by the government to corporations and groups that already have tons of money so that it can be used for education, helping the needy, and fixing the economy. There's no reason for billion dollar companies to be getting special tax breaks or any of the other butt kissing activities by the goverment when there are many other important causes. Funny, as I get older, I get more and more pissed off at how the government works and the number of massive flaws in the system. I think I'm getting more cynical in my "old" age too. ;-)
2. Is there scientific knowledge best left undiscovered? I'd say cloning, although I think the concept of cloning organs could be very useful...the cloning of whole people on the other hand is a bit scary. And who's to say that the technology for one wouldn't get used for the other? I guess that's the thing with scientific discoveries. For all the reasons something is being researched for good...there are as many people out there looking for non-good applications.
3. If you could proclaim a new national holiday, what would it be and how would we celebrate it? World Culture Day. A day for all cultures to celebrate. It would be like a world festival...and use it to celebrate the differences and similarities between all cultures. Also it would be good for those who don't know much about the rest of the world to learn that there is a big world beyond their backyard.

Onesome: Rain, rain- Some people love rainy days every once in a while. Are you one of them? Do they make you want to curl up in bed with a good book or going walking through the mist? Or would you rather it just go away? Once in a while. When it rains for days and days on end, I end up craving the sun. But the odd rainy day is nice. It does tend to make me want to say in bed longer and enjoy a day inside.
Twosome: Go away- If you could go away to just one place, where would you go and why? The UK. I love it there. So much to do and see. Yeah, I'm an anglophile...and I can't help it. There's also a lot of London I didn't get to see when I was there last and go to the countryside and lots of other places.

1. What are your 3 favorite current TV shows? Futurama, Law and Order, and Good Eats!
2. What are your 3 favorite shows from your childhood? Oh this is going to be hard to pick three. Um...Fraggle Rock, Silver Spoons (had a mad crush on Ricky), and Punky Brewster.
3. What are your 3 favorite TV/movie/fictional characters? Fry, Bender and Dr. Zoidberg- yeah they are all Futurama characters, but since Fox stupidly cancelled the show...I'm putting them everywhere as my faves!! ;-)
4. What are your 3 favorite movies of all time? Movies you can sit and watch over and over. Another tough one to narrow down to three...The Princess Bride, The Breakfast Club, Lethal Weapon (and of them).
5. What are your 3 favorite books? Katherine by Anya Seton, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (the whole series) by Douglas Adams, and Mists of Avalon.
